This Holiday season I FINALLY had a finished studio to shoot at! As much as I love sessions out in the winter light, it's a rare kiddo that will tolerate our Colorado weather for long this time of year. These three little girls were just a bundle of giggles at my studio- they were all super excited to play dress up for an afternoon and take some beautiful holiday photos! I had the best time creating these classic portraits of these beauties- and we only made a moderate disaster of my studio in the process haha...which is par for the course in my studio sessions and completely worth it ^_^
I'm a bit behind on blogging- and I figured everyone could use some colorful garden beauty as we approach the first official day of winter ^_^
This sweet soul was such a delight to work with. One thing I love about being a children's photographer is watching an imagination spark up and start to create its own magic- once that happens my job is always easy. We spent an amazing few hours wandering the Denver Botanic Gardens playing and laughing and of course- shooting!
I do love my warm beautiful winter light- but when spring comes 'round again I'll definitely be ready to head out with some more little fairies!
All styling and wardrobe for this session were provided by yours truly =)
Purple Dress: Tutu Du Monde

Rhinestone Crown: Joyfolie

These two kiddos were such a dream to photograph. This little man was so suave, and his big sister was ALL personality. I love these winter days that are JUST warm enough to head out in and shoot- we get THE most beautiful light in the winter afternoons! I love getting a chance to take holiday portraits for children- this time of year is so magical when you're little and that magic always seems to come through my lens! Plus it gives me an excuse to add beautiful holiday items to my client wardrobe- like this beautiful berry crown I got last year and the adorable plaid shirt princess J is wearing...I do love an excuse to shop =P
Available in my Client Wardrobe:
Prince G's shirt: Old Navy size 18-24m
Plaid Shirt: Old Navy size M
Flower Crown: Handmade Botanicals
Dress: Tutu Du Monde size 6-7
Everyone has a "why" or two for why they do what they do. For me one of my big why's is my dad. This guy was behind a camera all the time growing up...and he always had the newest camera tech. He always had a laugh and a helping hand ready for his friends and family. November 30, 2001 was the last day I ever spoke to my dad, he passed unexpectedly the next day. Suddenly all I had of my dad were the memories of an adolescent girl, and the pictures he left behind. Those pictures are some the most precious thing in the world to me. Just looking at his face helps me hear his voice in my memory clearer, and looking at the pictures he took of me reminds me just how much he loved me. I communicate my love to my daughter in the same way even now- she and I have an awesome time playing dress up and doing photoshoots together.
So that's one of my big "why's." Because life is short, and we're not guaranteed tomorrow, and because every time I pick up my camera I'm reminded of my dad's prolific collection of cameras that were always pointed at me. Providing people with images of their favorite humans that will hang on their walls for years to come is something that is very meaningful to me. I know just how important a single picture can be to a person, and I consider it an honor and a great responsibility to create those special images of your most important people <3
